The creation of StaffMatcher ® followed a critique of existing psychometric tests, along with formal market research into the recruitment needs of employers (Ipsos market research Melbourne Australia 2007). In addition, a review of 500 candidate interviews conducted over a ten year period was performed (on positions ranging from graduate entry to senior managers). The interview format was based on competency and preference based questions and also included behavioral elements.
The review demonstrated that interviewing alone could not measure a candidate’s ability across all the attributes that define strong work performance.
In all instances, the application of a psychometric test uncovered additional information which either enhanced (or challenged) the interview findings.
Because interviewing techniques differ significantly between employers, basing hiring decisions solely on interview performance carries a tangible risk.
To mitigate this risk, a psychometric test which includes a customised reference checking procedure, should be used.
StaffMatcher ® is different because it tests for workplace related attributes (as opposed to basic personality traits) – while for reference checking, issues of referee bias and question effectiveness are overcome by our customised reference check.
Each StaffMatcher ® psychometric test generates two reports. The first report contains your candidate’s scores measured against our 26 key attributes, and explains how these scores will relate to the workplace. The second is a customised reference check which includes the exact questions to ask referees.
By using StaffMatcher ® your candidates can now be measured against a world-class, validated psychometric test developed in Australia, and based on local population samples.

Stephanie Reiter. (BBSc / BOT, G Dip. Psych, M. Psych (Org)
Stephanie created the candidate question set, developed the scoring benchmarks, and performed the statistical analysis to ensure the accuracy and validity of StaffMatcher® as a strong predictor of likely work performance. Stephanie also developed the Employee Suitability and Potential Indicator (A key StaffMatcher® feature). This feature advises which organisational level each candidate is best suited to, along with providing an indication of their future potential. The ES&P feature proved (from empirical data) that middle and senior managers clearly distinguish themselves across nine key attribute areas. Each candidate is measured and assessed against these nine key attributes.
Stephanie is an experienced psychologist and business consultant, and member of the Psychologists Registration Board of Victoria (Australia). Stephanie has a Bachelor of Behavioural Science/ Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, Postgraduate Diploma of Psychology, and Master of Organisational Psychology from Monash University.
Stephanie is experienced in recruitment and selection, psychological testing, leadership and talent management, and occupational health & safety. Stephanie has worked as an advisor to one of Australia’s largest publicly listed groups, where she championed the company’s Psychological Injury Program.
